UV, ultra violent radiation:

This does not filter but uses light energy to to oxidize certain germs. I have noticed that depending on the air quality the longer the time the air is in contact with the UV light the more oxidation of the germs get hit. Many of them can have a high powered UV light but if they don't allow enough time for contact with the air then what good is it. Some have UV light just as "bells and whistles" and others have a serious UV light that really works.

Just because someone says they have a UV light doesn't mean anything to me. UV light has been proven to work because the very short light waves from UV light (254 nm) disinfects whatever it shines on because it destroys the DNA make up and makes reproduction of the germ or cell almost impossible. There is a reason most of the hospitals use UV lights to sterilize.

The dust mites and bacteria and harmful viruses are what the UV lights can sterilize. HEPA filters, for example, can trap them, but who wants captured live organisms living in their air purifier. Please kill them first before they kill you! If you don't kill them first, they can reproduce themselves and have babies right inside your air purifier, a breeding ground for even more bugs. The best UV lights are the medical grade ones. You might get a good purifier that has a UV light built in but sometimes you might need to just outright buy a separate medical grade UV light

If you have a white haze on your tongue, you probably are breathing out germs and blood poisons that get into the air and usually you don't notice the bacteria in the air. All you notice is what is normal to you which is the tiredness and low vibrance that you might be used to. Purifying and destroying the germs in the air and raising its vibration can really make a difference in many peoples' well being.

Note: Bacteria and viruses are killed by UV light. know that viruses are too small to be trapped in a hepa filter but the bacteria almost always is big enough to be trapped. If their is not a uv light sanitizing the filter, their can build up microorganism in the hepa itself. Please get a medical grade uv light with at least 18k microwatts AN THAT IS NOT COATED SO IT DOENT GIVE OFF ANY OZONE. If the hepa filters arent protected can harbor dust mights too.

The intensity at 18k or avove is about 10 thousand time the dose of sunlight. This should be enough to steralize anything. Another thing about the Tracs model, they guarantee their purifier for 5 years. Also if anything is not satisfactory within 30 days they will pay to get it shipped back. Some people might want a bigger model and this is not covered. Only if their is a factory defect. Tracs is my 2nd best seller and is the one I have the most experience with right now.

When you take my air questionnaire, let me know if you think you have the need for a UV light. I will help you determine if you can get one that is built in or you have a more serious problem requiring a medical grade type.

UV ultraviolet
I only recommend this if there are viruses and bacteria in the air from infectious homes. If the place is humid like florida and theres no dehumidifier, then the UV light in the filter is probably a good thing. But generally, its not needed if its not really needed. Humidy breeds molds especially when its in constact with bacteria.
Most people turn their purifier on high bhtu the air has such little contact with the UV light that it really only works when its on the lowest setting unless it a big UV light. If their is a Hepa filter the Uv helps so the trapped stuff in the filter doesn't start growing.

Notice: I am not referring to the UV lights that produce ozone. Older gen models made ozone. Any higher grade medical grade UV light. The higher grade ones are not coated and do not produce any ozone.

The light must shine on the bacteria or infectious virus for enough time to kill it. On some brands such a as TRACS, it hs UV lights that constant shine on the filter. (See my Tracs review here). You never know whats trapped inside. I would never buy a used air purifer especially one that didnt have a uv sanitizer in it. Their are many uv models but the cool thing about the Tracs brand is that the uv shininging directly one the Hepa filter constantly sanitizes it. It has over 18 thousand microwatts of power. Super high.

If you think you might need a UV sanitizer, let me know on my air purifier quiz.

...because they sold me the wrong one twice
