Filter auto ship program WARNINGS:
THIS GOES FOR MOST TIMER BASED PURIFIERS, NOT THE SENSOR TYPE
Those use an digital timer. Lets you know when the filters need to be changed even if they are not clogged yet. Its just based on time the machine has run based on the digital timer. Some people dont want that and want the pressure sensor type that lets you know exactly when the filter is heavy enough that it needs to be changed. Based on back pressure. Abut one in 3 calls from people wanting to change filters is from the timer type purifiers.

Scam Watch: Avoid auto ship filter programs set by the dealer. What if you went on vacation for 2 months. You already signed up for it and you already paid for the filter so you are almost forced to put it in even though it doesnt need to be changed yet. Also, having a timer approach is like getting an oil change every 3 months from the sticker they put on your window even though its not 100% ready to be changed yet.

Warning: Some Hepas have sprayed on carbon (similar to the electro static ally applied to the swings on the play round so they don't rust. This is not the same as having pounds of carbon.

Hepa vs Hepa Type  HEPA-TYPE" filter, will let the smaller particles through.
This is why air cleaner bypassing is dangerous: smaller particles can fit through cracks in filters or poor fitting casings. This is the biggest complaint.. read what they say here.  There is also certified Hepa filters and commercial grade ones. Know aslo about the types of folds. Some crack and are not designed for the purifier to be on high 24/7 and others can handle it.

Warning: having an ozone machine in the same room as the hepa. this is so ARGGh. If the dust is dropped to the ground the hepa can't trap it. Yo ucan only do one or the other until after the particles have been either all dropped or trapped in the hepa filter. I guess in a way having the hepa built into an ozone machine is good if you just want to clear t0he air as fast as you want but the problem of having the dust all on the floor and in the carpet. as long as the area is vacuumed regularly its cool.

Say NO to cheap plastic housing that leaches!
Solid steal or part steal/part ABS plastic housings are worth the extra money.

Find out the noise level before you buy. Some get louder over time, very short time. You can always wear ear plugs at night. No hearing loss. Brain boggle!

A proper, worthy air purifier requires nothing more than regular maintenance. Some have longer warranties knowing that you will have to replace the motor at least one time during the course of their warranty period. They will replace it and send you another one for free. This is all figured into their prices. If a sales person suggests you get one with longer warranties make sure if it is because it is quality made or its some cheap model that they will replace for free each time.

Warranties are not warranties and not a warranty warranty warranty!!!!!!
A funny thing was when I complained for people to help them with their complaints and some manufacturers got defensive as if the complaints were rare and other companies immediately gave me their address to return the damaged motor. I guess they are used to returns and it is not uncommon. These are little signs I look for when trying feel the vibration of each company.

Warranty Scams: Lifetime warranty or 5 year warranty. This can mean they will replace it ONLY once during that time. That doesn't mean you can get it fixed after the 3rd year and 3 years later it breaks.. they warranty is not valid since you replaced it already.

It seems that the companies that wined the most and tried to get me to trouble shoot were the brands that I have found the least complaints with. The cheaper air purifier companies seemed to not care one way or the other if I mailed it back. I don't consider them lifetime warranties if they ONLY WILL REPLACE IT ONLY ONCE. In stead of lifetime warranties they probably should be called "ONCE IN A LIFETIME WARRANTY". "OR ONCE IN 5 YEARS)

WARRANTY REGISTRATION:
I have heard stories where people turned in the warranty and then 3 months later the warranty was expired. This is because it is registered by its cereal number and if it showed it was bought a year and a half ago by a store there is no way to prove it, especially if buying on Ebay where they are cheap for a reason. No warranties.. Get it!

Before buying a purifier check the cereal number so you know that it matches the same exact number that is being shipped to you by the dealer or manufacturer. Find out when it was originally purchased by the dealer and if you buy it and send in the registration card they will honor the full warranty from the date of your purchase delivery date. Also know that most warranties are not transferrable from one owner to another.
